#9: Opening scene (part 1)

The titles that appeared in my opening sequences

Only the film title is displayed during the opening sequence. I want to put other credits at the end of the film, not the beginning. I think it makes more sense to introduce all the people that contribute to making the film to audience once they have already seen the results from the crew's effort and hard work.

The 'lighter' metaphor.

I aim for the film to be a visual storyteller, cause "Seeing is believing". The character's appearance, behavior, and interactions with their surroundings all reveal what they are thinking and feeling on the inside. The audience should feel the character's thoughts for themselves rather than me telling the audience what they are thinking. I believe some emotions are better described via visuals than they are through words. I would prioritize the images of specific prop that characters interact with to better convey of their emotions.

The props that get a lot of screen time during the second half of the sequence is the lighter. I think the interaction of the main character with this lighter ables to capture his disorganized and uneasy emotions. During the conversation scene, its role is like being a narrator for the audience of how our protagonist feels from the inside.

I think it shows his desperation.  At this point, our protagonist feels he can no longer get in touch with his friend,  he understands something is wrong but he can't do anything about it. So he shut down everything, just deluding himself into this supposed-to-be-boring game, trying to run away from the painful reality.
