#1: My interests in media
It is Schindler's List (1997) - a film directed by Steven Spielberg.
The central theme of the film was loss and pain. And indeed, it has exploited this brutality to its realness. Each Jewish has their own story, making it easy to relate to them. They walk out of the movie and become real human beings to audiences. It's shocking to see them being slaughtered like animals by the Nazis.
I also love the way Schindler is depicted. He was a businessman, not a saint, he was not selfless, he was greedy and he used the Jews as labours because they were cheap. But he can't...just can't turn away from the evilness. The realism in this hero moved me more than any heroism movie has done.
I like drama since it is often about normal people and problems that arise from everyday life. Personally, I find it very interesting when I see my reflections inside a movie and feel that the character is related to me. So I think films within this genre (drama), can generate strong emotions in the audience, as they would actually sympathize with these fictional characters, more easily.
